Driven by the ever-increasing capabilities of instrumentation on satellites in terms of the amount of data collected, the demands on the on-board processing and communication systems have drastically increased.Thanks to ESA and national funding, the High-Performance Data Processor (HPDP) has been developed using ST Microelectronics C65SPACE Rad Hard ASIC technology. HPDP is a highly parallel architecture, consisting of 40 processor elements, delivering a peak performance of 40Gops for a power consumption below 1.5W. HPDP architecture allows for a full reconfiguration, with low latency, in less than 40 micro seconds.Precursor activities (ESA and EU funding) have confirmed that the HPDP can be used for image processing applications (e.g. sea vessel detection/identification, moon asteroid strike detection) and for image compression.Thus, HPDP is considered as an excellent candidate for applications related to exploration where dynamic reconfiguration is foreseen. Such a scenario is required for the European Large Logistic Lander (EL3). Real time video compression is foreseen for future EL3 mission, landing and payload deployment monitoring.It is intended to demonstrate those needs through HPDP, simulation environment, reference board.The activity encompasses the following tasks:-develop the SW applications and map it on HPDP reference board-develop the EGSE for the demonstrator-Validate performances with respect to exploration scenario-Optimize SW-Conclusions and recommendations for future exploration applicationsProcurement Policy: C(1) = Activity restricted to non-prime contractors (incl.
