Fragmentation of Cosmos 1408 Satellite observed by Romanian SST Network

On the morning of 15 November 2021, a fragmentation of the COSMOS 1408 satellite (Cospar ID 1982-092A) occurred and the Romanian Space Agency's SST Operational Center (COSST) started to monitor the event.

The RO_AROAC-T08 telescope, dedicated to Low Earth Observation object detection, acquired a first batch of images and astrometric measurements were performed on two fragments (as depicted in the gif image below). The Center continues to monitor the fragments that resulted from the event.
