ROSA signs Declaration for launching the Space Climate Observatory at the International Paris Air Show

on 25 June 2019

On 17 June, on behalf of the Romanian space agency (ROSA), Dr. Phys. Marius-Ioan Piso signed a joint declaration of interest for the formal launch of the activities of the Space Climate Observatory, during an official ceremony at the Paris Air Show. 24 other space agencies and four international organisations signed The Space Climate Observatory declaration in the presence of the President of France, Emmanuel Macron.

The Space Climate Observatory  aims to combine satellite and ground data with socio-economic data in order to better evaluate the local impact of climate change. Such indicators and tools will help decision makers act better on and adapt to the impacts foreseen. The Observatory will also contribute to the achievement of the UN Sustainable Goals. The set-up of this observatory was first promoted by France in December 2017 at the “One Planet Summit”.
