Spacecraft communications training for engineering students

on 12 November 2019

The Romanian Space Agency (ROSA) is inviting engineering university students to apply for a training in spacecraft communications. The Ladybird Guide to Spacecraft Communications 2020, open to 30 students, will run again between 18 and 21 February 2020 at the ESA Education Training Centre in Belgium. The deadline to apply is 9 December 2019.

This training course will consist of formal lectures with lots of interaction with the students and will be provided by an ESA Engineer from ESOC, the European Space Operations Centre in Darmstadt, Germany.

At the end of the training course, students will have a solid understanding of the challenges of communicating with a spacecraft and the subsystems involved in communications (both on-board and on the ground): what can go wrong, troubleshooting, and scenarios to be avoided during operations and testing.

Students will be evaluated on the group exercise, and upon completion of the training course will receive a certificate and course transcript, allowing them to claim ECTS credit(s) from their respective universities.

In order to apply, students should submit a motivation letter, a CV in Europass format, a recommendation letter and a copy of academic records.
