Call for applications for CubeSats Hands-On Training Week 2019

on 23 July 2019

The Romanian Space Agency (ROSA) invites Romanian university students to apply to the second edition of ESA Academy’s CubeSats Hands-On Training Week that will take place on 16 – 20 September 2019, at ESA Academy’s Training and Learning Facility in ESEC-Galaxia, Belgium.  The deadline for applications is 2 August 2019, 23:59 CEST (00:59 Romanian time).

This Training Week is a great opportunity for students to get hands-on experience with satellites and to apply theoretical knowledge obtained from classroom lectures.

During the lab sessions, students will have the opportunity to work in groups of two or three and perform experiments on Educational Satellites (ESAT). Before coming to ESEC-Galaxia, the selected students will be required to perform some preliminary activities (reading material and exercises) for a duration of no more than 5 hours to better prepare for this Training Week.

Students will be evaluated during the week, and upon completion, will receive a certificate and course transcript, allowing them to claim ECTS credit(s) from their respective universities.

To be eligible, students must fulfil the following criteria: to be aged between 18 and 32 years old, be a citizen of an ESA Member State, Canada or Slovenia, be enrolled as a full-time Bachelor, Master, or PhD student in a university (not graduating before the Training Week) and studying an engineering subject.

The selected students will be sponsored by ESA. The sponsorship will cover accommodation and meals as well as up to 200 euros for travelling to Belgium.
