Call for applications at the 2017 concurrent engineering challenge

on 27 March 2017

The Romanian Space Agency (ROSA) invites Romanian students to participate at the 2017 edition of the Concurrent Engineering Challenge, organised by the Education Office of the European Space Agency (ESA). The competition will take place between September – October 2017.

Concurrent engineering represents a method of developing products designed for the space industry by designing all subsystems at the same time. Although the method is a more complicated procedure, its main advantage is its efficiency in identifying various designing errors that can appear during the design process of a new product.

Participants at the Concurrent Engineering Challenge will be organised in groups of 15-25 students, supervised by two system engineers. Each group will have to complete a specific mission in a period of four days. Each group will also be divided in smaller teams (of two – three people), who will receive specific tasks.

The aim of the competition is not to determine a winner, but to exchange essential information amongst the participant teams through video-conferences.

In order to participate at the competition, universities are required to fill out this form.

The deadline to register is 31 March 2017, and the eligibility criteria, as well as other relevant information related to the event, are available here.
