Open call for the “Cassini scientist for a day” competition

The Romanian Space Agency (ROSA) invites Romanian students aged between 10 and 18 years old to participate at the 2016/2017 edition of the “Cassini scientist for a day” competition, organised by the European Space Agency (ESA). The competition aims to familiarise participants with the life of a space scientist.


In order to enter the competition, students have to learn about planet Saturn, its characteristics and its moons and then select one of the suggested three targets imaged by the probe and write a 500 words essay in which to explain why they have made that choice.

Entries will be judged in three age categories: 10-12 years old; 13-15 years old; 16-18 years old. The students are also allowed to participate in teams of up to four students. Each student or team can send only one essay.

The deadline to enter the competition is 3 April 2017, no later than 23:59 CEST (00:59 Romania local time). Essays will be sent to national organisers. In Romania they are: Prof. Ioana Stoica (istoica4143 at gmail.com) and Prof. Elisabeta Ana Naghi (ana.naghi at gmail.com).

The winners will receive goodie bags from ESA and a certificate of participation, while winning essays will be published on the ESA website.
