Open call for the second edition of the CanSat National Competition

on 21 December 2016

ESERO Romania, a joint project of the European Space Agency (ESA) and the Romanian Space Agency (ROSA), is organising the second edition of the National CanSat Competition: a simulation of a satellite integrated in the volume and the shape of a standard can for soft drinks. The competition is addressed to secondary-school students and teachers and the deadline to register is 22 January 2017.

The challenge of the competition is to integrate all the major satellite’s subsystems in a soft drinks can with a volume of 330 milliliters. Then, the satellite will have to be launched at an altitude of approximately one kilometer, to perform several measurements and land safely.

In order to participate at the competition, the students aged above 14 years old have to organise themselves in teams of four to six people, coordinated by a teacher. They will fill in an application form and send it at the e-mail address This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. . Please consult the competition guidelines here.

Eight teams will participate at the national competition, which will be held between 19-24 April 2017. The winning team of the national competition will qualify for the finals of the European CanSat Competition, organised by the European Space Agency (ESA) in late June 2017. The official language used for the national and European competition is English.
