Registrations open for “Spin Your Thesis!”

on 14 July 2016

Romanian university students can now apply to the eight edition of the “Spin Your Thesis!” programme, which will offer them the opportunity to perform experiments in hyper-gravity conditions. The programme is organised by the Education Office of the European Space Agency (ESA), where Romania is a Member State.

The “Spin Your Thesis!” programme provides university students the chance to perform experimental research in facilities usually not accessible to them. Under the coordination of professors from universities, team of students can submit proposals for experiments using the Large Diameter Centrifuge (LDC). The deadline for submitting proposals is 4 September 2016.

Up to four teams will be selected and asked to develop their experiment within 6 months, after which they will be granted the opportunity to access the LDC for two and a half days.

Representatives of the teams participating in the previous editions declared that the “Spin Your Thesis!” experience was useful “both at a personal level, as well as at the professional level”. The teams enrolled in the 2015 edition also published the results of the experiments in a scientific journal.
