The International Workshop for Space Education

on 10 June 2016

The European Space Agency (ESA) organises a workshop on an annual basis dedicated to educators in partnership with the Galileo Teacher Training Programme (GTTP). This year’s event will take place in Leiden, the Netherlands, between 18 – 22 October, and it is organised also in association with the European Space Awareness Project.

The Space Education International Workshop will provide examples of useful and innovative practices that can be used in teaching astronomy and space science, taking into consideration both the formal and informal education systems.

The participants will have the opportunity of sharing ideas and practices that were developed and implemented by ESA, Space Awareness and GTTP.

The workshop will discuss issues such as the introduction of space careers from a younger age and the evaluation of the impact that astronomical activities have on young students.

The event is addressed to school teachers in the primary and secondary levels, educators, space communication specialists and policy makers.

The registrations are open until 15 June.

The participants should know that ESA does not apply any registration taxes, but those who want to enroll in the programme should know that the expenses related to their accommodation, transportation and other costs are not covered by ESA and the participants should support these costs. ESA will provide a limited number of grants that can be used for accommodation purposes. The participants who have not participated in previous editions of the workshop will have priority in this case.

The teachers who can’t participate during the entire period of the workshop are still welcomed on 21 and 22 October.
