Registration is open for the 2016 CanSat Romania Competition

on 18 January 2016

ESERO Romania, a project of the European Space Agency in collaboration with the Romanian Space Agency, is launching the second edition of the National CanSat Competition: a simulation of a satellite incorporated in the size and volume of a standard soda can. All secondary school students and teachers are invited to apply to the competition. The deadline for signing up is 1 February 2016.

The challenge consists of fitting all the necessary subsystems found in a real satellite into a 330ml soda can. The satellite must then be launched up to an altitude of 1km, perform certain measurements and then safely land on the ground.

To participate, students over the age of 14 must organise into teams coordinated by a teacher, complete a registration form available online and send it by e-mail at This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. .

Eight teams will participate in the national finals between 21 and 24 April 2016 in Suceava. The winning team will automatically qualify for the final of the European CanSat Competition, organised by ESA at the end of June 2016.
