The Hungarian government was the one who founded the Hungarian Space Office in January 1991, which manages, coordinates and represents the country in the spatial domain. Since 2010, the organization was legally administratively integrated in the Ministry of National Development, retaining its own the name, image and independence in foreign relations.
The Minister's Advisory body on the technical problems is the Scientific Council on Space Research - SCSR, which provides the scientific basis of all the Hungarian space activities.
The research and application activities were done in about 25 scientific institutes and university departments by a staff of more than 250 scientists and engineers.
The collaboration between Romanian Space Agency and the Hungarian Space Office began after the space cooperation agreement signed in 1998.
