Online meeting with Radu Mihalache, from the National Research and Development Institute for Gas Turbines COMOTI

on 24 April 2020

On Friday, 24 April 2020, from 3:00 pm, the Romanian Space Agency (ROSA) invites you to take part in an online meeting with Radu Mihalache, coordinator of the Satellites and Space Equipment Research and Development Department from the National Research and Development Institute for Gas Turbines COMOTI, Bucharest. Radu Mihalache will talk about „How to safely bring back soil samples from Phobos”.

The event is organised by ESERO, a project of the European Space Agency (ESA) in collaboration with ROSA, and can be followed live on the ESERO Romania Facebook page.

Radu Mihalache will present COMOTI's contribution to planetary exploration programs and to the development of space equipment. The presentation will focus on the results of an ESA-funded project that aimed to develop a closing and sealing system for a mission with the objective to collect 100 grams of regolith from Phobos (one of the two natural satellites of the planet Mars) and bring them to Earth. The second part of the presentation will include information about the development process of space equipment, based on the experience of several projects related to space missions / programs.

The National Research and Development Institute for Gas Turbines COMOTI integrates scientific research, constructive and technological design, manufacturing, experimentation, testing, technological transfer and innovation in the field of aviation turbine engines, gas turbine industrial machines, high speed blade machines and, since 2012, space equipment.
